Sustainable Tourism Forum

An opportunity to rethink sustainable tourism in light of the international standards of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) and to actively participate in the creation of new opportunities for the national and European tourism system.

The Forum was created with the aim of:

• strengthening dialogue between territories, institutions and operators
• sharing models of fair, participatory and responsible tourism management
• promoting virtuous local and international experiences
• encouraging the adoption of common tools such as GSTC certification
• stimulating concrete and collective reflection on challenges and solutions for the future of tourism

THE PROGRAMME IN BRIEF

27 September 2025 | Forum at the Julius Kugy Auditorium - Tarvisio

Morning | Perspectives and strategies for new tourism governance (simultaneous interpreting service provided)

An introductory session dedicated to presentations and case studies from Italian and cross-border destinations.

Two central themes will guide the presentations:

1. Cooperation between territories through sustainability
2. The relationship between tourism and nature

Afternoon | Participate to innovate: three thematic panels (in English)

After the introduction of concrete experiences from across the Alps, participants will be involved in a World Café format: a participatory activity to discuss common solutions to the major challenges of contemporary tourism.

The three thematic focuses:

• Tourism for everyone and for each individual

→ social inclusion, quality of life for residents and territorial cohesion

• Tourism and nature: models of balance

→ coexistence between tourism and environmental protection

• Certification as a tool for shared governance

→ collaborative governance, listening to stakeholders and monitoring tools

The day will conclude with a plenary session and a convivial networking dinner at the Hotel Nevada.

28 September 2025 | Experiences in the area

Experiences in the area (limited places, registration required)

An immersive day in the Tarvisio area, among forests, communities and regenerative practices.
The experience includes:

• Sensory walk in the NaTura Forest
• Convivial lunch
• Participatory activity on the relationship between community and nature

Participation is free but places are limited.
The event is organised by the Tarvisio Tourist Promotion Consortium in collaboration with the GSTC Italy Working Group, as part of the Interreg Italy - Austria INDIALPS project
